The Power of Leadership Succession

Ruminating about 28 years of consulting with organizations of all types, I noticed an interesting fact. With one exception, I have never been in an organization with an effective ongoing leadership succession process. A few leaders talk about it but almost no one does anything about it.

Today we are seeing the beginning of a generational change in leadership all across organizations.  The “baby boomers” are leaving the work force.

Consider this article, it presents a model which embeds leadership succession in the process of organizational improvement.  Maybe you know a colleague who might want to consider this, if so please forward.

There are a couple of ways that people can subscribe to this blog. Click the “+ Follow” link on the bottom right section of the site and enter your email address. This is a very easy way to receive the newest post as an email. The other way is via RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed. The RSS Feed link is located on the right sidebar of the site, directly above the Categories section. Click on “RSS – Posts” to receive your posts in their favorite RSS reader. The RSS reader that many prefer is Google Reader (http://reader.google.com). It is free, well organized, and easy to use.
